It's just one of the problems with cloning experiments. Even though 98 animals die for every one successfully cloned and the results are fraught with uncertainties, companies anxious to make headlines and collect patents and profits have rushed headlong into this fashionable area of research. But as with all such studies, the animals are the victims-caged, manipulated and treated like things to be brought to life and killed whenever convenient. Cloning is one genie that should be put back in the bottle.

Is this citizen aware we are in a world war or are you, is this citizen aware that due to lay offs crime is up and we are in a full alert and every police department does a very dangerous job well. When my husband was hurt serious last year within three minutes I was assured that he was not dead and as I hung up the phone I had 6 officers at my door.
My husband works in a very dangerous business. I hope this individual is brave enough with the rising crime, to defend himself.
I have nothing but gratitude and respect for the Downey Police and Fire Department and I am very disappointed that you would, in these times publish, such a letter.
I encourage you to publish mine or I will be in your office and you don't want that at all.
I want to complement the officers in Code Enforcement, I had the privilege of going to school with Detective Pete Novakoff and have dealt with Detective Samano who has been nothing but efficient and compassionate.
So if this resident ever needs help I hope he calls a neighbor, with my personal experience I was appalled about this letter. When I called the "Editor" today he was as unaware and unhelpful as you can get. I hope that the police department reacts in the same way when this "Downey resident" needs help, but I know they are too good for that, but that day may come.
I am also sending this letter to the Long Beach Press Telegram and maybe "BOGEY'S CORNER."
